2021 Featured Community Organizations
The Prime Leaf is proud to support these organizations all throughout the year. This holiday season, we are committed to making a financial donation to all of the following organizations that directly supports both the local Tucson community and the greater cannabis community.
Tucson Second Chance Community Bail Fund
The Tucson Second Chance Community Bail Fund is a Black-led abolitionist revolving bail fund led by Tiera Rainey.
The mission of TSCCBF is to “end the unjust criminalization of poverty and the practice of pre-trial detention in Pima County.” TSCCBF posts bond primarily for individuals from black, brown and indigenous communities who are unjustly detained while waiting for trial simply because they cannot afford bail. Through education, community organizing, and bail relief, the TSCCBF is fighting to end the criminalization of poverty in Pima County.
In 2021, The Prime Leaf made its first financial contribution to TSCCBF and donated over 100 hours of employee time to help them craft a promotional video illustrating their mission and work in the community.
Read our full blog about TSCCBF, their work in the community and how to donate.

J.B. Wright Elementary School

John B. Wright Elementary School is an A+ rated school located right in our Speedway neighborhood. As a 100% Title I school, nearly all students are living under the poverty line facing severely worsened conditions from the pandemic. Despite the growing hardships and exclusion these incredibly challenging years have brought, the staff have been working tirelessly to foster growth and inclusion at the school. Students are encouraged to learn about each other’s stories, cultural differences and embrace their own diversity. The school promotes a “Growth Mindset” where students are encouraged to welcome and lift up failure and celebrate the achievements that follow!
The Prime Leaf held a toy drive in 2020 and 2021 to collect toy donations for the families at JB Wright who are facing hardships this holiday season. Additionally, The Prime Leaf will be donating a sum to the school to support families in need with food and gifts and to provide supplies to under-resourced teachers and classrooms.

Last Prisoner Project
Last Prisoner Project is an advocacy program working to bring about the day when the last cannabis prisoner is released and brought home. The efforts of this program focus on clemency for individuals incarcerated for victimless cannabis crimes, re-entry support through education and vocational training, and advocacy for criminal justice reform. Despite major cannabis reforms, there are still over 40,000 cannabis prisoners in the US and there are more arrests for cannabis possession per year than all violent crimes combined, disproportionately impacting communities of color.
Last holiday season, The Prime Leaf raised funds and awareness through the sale of our custom designed rainbow Prime Leaf mugs! We are proud to support the mission of Last Prisoner Project again this season.

University of Arizona Community & School Garden Program

The University of Arizona’s Community and School Garden Program (CSGP) connects Tucson educators and community organizations with university students eager to participate in the school garden movement occurring throughout the country. University student interns are matched with low-income school and community placement sites where they support the installation, development and maintenance of a garden program. Using gardens as dynamic educational tools, the program helps cultivate community, connect students with their local food system and use gardens as STEM learning labs.
In 2021, The Prime Leaf committed a financial sum to support the vital work of the UA CSGP program, helping expand resources and opportunities for underserved TUSD students. Due to Prop 207’s lack of public education funding, we feel it’s important to make direct contributions to programs supporting youth in our community.
Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation
The Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation provides direct services, programs and supportive safe environments to enhance the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS. Through offerings like case management, housing and support services, SAAF empowers those impacted by and living with HIV/AIDS with self-determination, the power to deconstruct stigmas and the resources to live healthy, engaging lives.
SAAF’s mission is to provide support for people living with HIV/AIDS and their families, establish culturally appropriate prevention and education programs to reduce the rate of infection and promote LGBTQ community outreach & engagement.
In 2021, The Prime Leaf was a Contributing Sponsor of SAAF’s AIDSWalk and, with Grady’s leadership, raised an additional sum for the organization.
Check out volunteer opportunties, donate, and read our full blog on SAAF, HIV/AIDs, and the role of cannabis within that history.

Youth on Their Own

Youth On Their Own (YOTO) supports the high school graduation and continued success of youth experiencing homelessness in Pima County. YOTO strives to eliminate barriers to education and empower housing insecure youth in our community to stay in school. For over 35 years, YOTO has supported this unique demographic by providing financial assistance, basic human needs, guidance, and more. With the help of the community, YOTO has supported over 20,000 local youth in their journeys toward high school graduation!
This is the Prime Leaf’s first opportunity to support Youth On Their Own! We look forward to contributing to their important mission. Head to their website for more information on volunteer opportunities, donation needs and more!
From all of us at The Prime Leaf, we wish you and your loved ones a very joyful, safe, and restful holiday season!!
